“What challenge has been easier this year because of challenges you overcame last year?”

When most people think of a challenge, they think of big obstacles to overcome, goals to achieve, and outcomes they want to produce.

Those are all worthy challenges in and of themselves.

But what if the challenge we're looking to overcome … is ourselves?

Like everyone reading this, I've struggled with confidence at different times in my life.

And, like many of you, I've personally struggled to overcome the negative self talk, the constant doubt, and the damaging messaging I picked up from other people (some well meaning and some not) over the years.

What a few of us discovered this week in the live sessions with this question "What challenge has been easier this year because of a challenge you overcame last year?"

Is that recognizing how much we are building a more positive voice, is something we weren't taught to do.

What if the challenge you are overcoming, isn't getting those voices, that messaging, and the negative self talk to stop?

What if the real challenge is to make that better message, the one that is more true, the message that tells you that you can do it, the one that reinforces your belief in yourself, the feeling that burns in your stomach and likely has since you could remember…

LOUDER

So damn loud that those other messages don't stand a chance.

Well, I can tell you, that what many people in the live sessions experienced this week, is that it starts with taking the time to really acknowledge the successes you've had, the accomplishments you're proud of, and the challenges you've overcome.

It can be a simple as spending time with someone you know and exploring this question.

Because, when you own the challenges you've overcome, you can begin to see how much you've improved on the real challenge of building a voice in your head that tells you the truth.

That you are worth believing in.

And you always have been.
